High Standards and Growth
The state of Tennessee has recognized CHS as a level 5 school for the past three years. A level 5 ranking is the highest rating a school can receive for student achievement. In addition, CHS students have increased the percentage proficient in all five of the state-tested areas. These percentage increases are between 2.9% and 18.1%. Not only have CHS scores improved, but so has the graduation rate. The graduation rate has increased from 85.3% to 93.9%, with each population subgroup experiencing gains in percentage graduated.Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate
Along with the wide variety of elective classes that are available at CHS there are also a wide selection of IB and AP classes. CHS has been an International Baccalaureate World School for over ten years and has one of the strongest Advanced Placement programs in the state. CHS students have a 48% pass rate on IB exams and a 43% pass rate on all the AP exams. Last year alone, CHS had fourteen AP Scholars. These individuals are recognized by the College Board as students who have passed three AP exams or more with a score of 3 or higher on each of the exams.CHS Recognition
With all of these achievements and improvements, it is no surprise that CHS was recognized by US News and World Report as a 2013 Silver Medal School. This means that CHS was ranked in the top 10% of all the 21,000 public schools in the nation.CHS Graduates
